(SKĐS) – Ages 3 to 5 represent a critical window that determines up to 60% of a child’s physical development potential later in life. However, this is also the stage when children are most vulnerable to nutrient deficiencies, leading to poor growth, stunting, or frequent illness, which can hinder physical and cognitive development.

According to statistics, the daily diet of Vietnamese children currently meets only 50% of the recommended intake for several essential micronutrients. Many children may eat enough meals, yet these meals often lack balance, being too rich in starch and insufficient in high-quality protein. This results in inadequate energy intake needed for growth. Children who do not receive enough energy early in life, or more severely, those with Protein-Energy Malnutrition (PEM), are at risk of impaired cognitive development and recurrent infections. To address this issue, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends specialized nutrition for young children, especially those who are underweight or stunted. In particular, energy should be prioritized as the key factor to help children catch up in growth.

WHO recommends that young children, especially those who are underweight or stunted, need an appropriate nutritional diet

The role of energy in a child’s development

Energy is not only the “fuel” that sustains activity, but also participates in all critical growth processes during early childhood, including:

Physical growth: In the first five years of life, children’s bodies grow rapidly, requiring a large energy supply to build and regenerate tissues and cells. Therefore, nutrition and energy intake during this stage play a decisive role in future physical development potential.

Brain development: Energy plays a vital role in learning, memory, and concentration. During early childhood, the brain consumes up to 50% of daily energy to complete its structural and functional development. Thus, nutrient and energy deficiencies at this stage can significantly affect learning ability and future success.

Immune support: Energy is essential for synthesizing immune proteins, white blood cells, and antibodies. Multiple studies have shown that nutritional deficiency (especially protein-energy deficiency) weakens immunity through various mechanisms, making children more susceptible to infections.

Metabolism: All biochemical reactions in the body, from digestion and absorption to cellular synthesis, require energy. When energy is lacking, these processes slow down, leading to poor weight gain and stunting.

For children under 1 year old they require an average of 90–120 kcal/kg/day for maintenance and growth. However, for underweight or stunted children, WHO guidelines recommend approximately 150–185 kcal/kg/day to support recovery and catch-up growth. Along with a balanced diet containing all three major macronutrients, parents can provide high-quality, easily absorbed nutrition such as milk to support recovery and healthy growth.

At this stage, nutritional formulas that meet the WHO F100 standard are considered an optimal solution for many parents’ concerns. These products provide high-energy nutrition standardized at 100 kcal/100 ml and 2.9 g of protein, offering a higher proportion of energy from protein. As a result, the F100 formula has proven effective in supporting recovery in children with nutritional and energy deficiencies.

Clinically proven Medical Nutrition solution aids weight gain after 1 month

Understanding parents’ challenges in preparing meals that meet proper nutritional requirements for children, Nutricare and the Nutricare Medical Nutrition Institute – USA (NMNI-USA) have successfully developed the Hanie Kid Medical Nutrition Product to support weight gain within one month.

The product has been trusted by millions of Vietnamese parents as a nutritional solution to support children’s healthy weight gain and height development, demonstrated by clear testing results showing improved outcomes in underweight and stunted children. With two servings of Hanie Kid per day (equivalent to three ready-to-drink cartons), children recorded significantly improved results: 155% better weight gain, 63% better height growth, and a reduction in malnutrition prevalence to 14.5% compared to the control group.

A key advantage of Hanie Kid is its pediatric formulation that meets WHO high-energy recommendations of 100 kcal, providing optimal energy to support healthy weight gain in picky eaters and stunted children. Combined with high-quality milk protein, zinc, and lysine, the product helps enhance appetite, improve picky-eating behaviors, and promote energy metabolism and nutrient absorption.

The Hanie Kid Medical Nutrition Product has been clinically shown to support weight gain within one month

In addition, Hanie Kid features an advanced formula enriched with a trio of calcium, vitamin K2, and vitamin D3 imported from the USA, all essential nutrients that play a key role in promoting height growth in children. The product also contains 24-hour colostrum from the USA, rich in IgG antibodies, helping build a natural immune defense, reduce infection risk, and enhance immunity.

High-quality product with transparent traceability

Honored as a Vietnam National Brand in 2024, Hanie Kid has affirmed its position as an effective, high-quality nutritional solution for millions of Vietnamese families. The product not only earns consumer trust through clinically verified quality, but also through transparency in origin and traceability.

A modern QR-code traceability system serves as a “digital passport” for each product. With a simple scan at the bottom of the can or carton (for ready-to-drink milk), consumers can easily access information on production batches, expiration dates, and the official product information page.

The origin tracing system via QR code on each milk can helps consumers easily identify genuine products.

By continuously innovating and applying modern technology across all production stages, while ensuring transparency through traceability, Nutricare reinforces its commitment to sustainable development. This is clear evidence of Nutricare’s efforts to deliver safe, high-quality nutrition products while protecting consumer rights.
